In this interview, she shares her perspective on the impact of the SHE Index, the importance of data-driven decision-making, and what motivates her to contribute to drive gender equality and sustainability.
Can you describe your role in the development and implementation of the SHE Index?
My role in the development and implementation of the SHE Index mainly involves data collection and analysis. I work with developing the solution where the score and indexes are calculated, based on how the participating companies have answered to various questions regarding their work with gender equality and diversity. I then analyse the collected data to uncover trends and insights. It is also my responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the calculations of the answers to make sure that the data is comparable between companies. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity and reliability of the SHE Index. Finally, I present the findings in a clear and actionable format.
In your experience, what impact does the SHE Index have on companies and society?
SHE Index offers a great opportunity for companies to share their work with gender balance and diversity, compare against other companies, and track their progress. Companies that perform well in the SHE Index are recognized for their commitment to this area, which can enhance their reputation and make them more attractive to potential employees and customers. I believe that transparency in sustainability work, including gender equality and diversity, is crucial for successful companies and organizations. Also, it has been proven that there are benefits of having a diverse workforce, such as increased innovation and improved business performance. For society, I think the SHE Index can raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and diversity, and by that contribute to a more inclusive society. By showing what participating companies have achieved, the SHE Index hopefully motivate other companies to implement similar initiatives, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
Why is this work personally meaningful to you, and what motivates you to contribute?
This work is personally meaningful to me for several reasons. I have a strong passion for both data and sustainability. Working on the SHE Index allows me to combine these two passions by using data to drive meaningful change in sustainability and gender equality. Knowing that my work with the SHE Index can drive real change is very rewarding. It is a privilege for me to analyse this kind of data and develop the technical aspects of the solution, making it as useful as possible. I am also motivated by the potential to inspire other companies and individuals to prioritize gender equality and diversity.
